Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby became the 86th player in NHL history, and the fastest active skater, to reach 1,000 points when he set up a Chris Kunitz first-period goal on February 16 against the Winnipeg Jets at PPG Paints Arena.
The Penguins will honor Crosby's achievement with a brief pre-game ceremony before Sunday's 3 PM meeting at PPG Paints Arena against the Detroit Red Wings on NBC.
Sunday's Penguins-Red Wings tilt is the second game of a quadruple header of NHL action on NBC and NBC Sports Network as part of Hockey Day in America. The Penguins will also celebrate Hockey is for Everyone Day.
